  • Merging Data From a Backup

    On one of the sites that we administer our client attempted to move posts prior to June 11th to what he was calling archives using 2.2.9 and Fedora/Apache 2. The operation failed and actually deleted all records that he attempted to move. We have a backup of his data prior to the attempted move and would like suggestions on how to merge in data from prior to the move date. We contacted vB support, only to be told that it was time consuming; it would require custom code, etc. We feel that this was not much of a response. SID-201418-e9626b31

    Here is the header of the .sql:

    -- Table structure for table `access`
    DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `access`;
    CREATE TABLE `access` (
    `userid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
    `forumid` smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
    `accessmask` smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
    UNIQUE KEY `userid` (`userid`,`forumid`)
    ) TYPE=MyISAM;
    -- Dumping data for table `access`

    How do we edit this so that it doesn't drop the table and instead, imports records prior to 2004-06-11? We would need to do this for each table, but certainly it can be done.

    Before anyone asks, I own a copy of vB and have logged in as that user.
