Can't get to forums....

I have set up vBulletin succesfully, sort of.

I can get there from the control panel where it says "Go to your Forums Home Page"

However, I cannot get there when I type in www.mydomain.com/forums/

This used to work, I've changed over to a different provider and now it doesn't..

Any thoughts? I'm sure someone else has seen this..

What error displays when you type the url?

I ge the following :

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /forums/ on this computer

Try adding index.php to the end of the URL or using .htaccess to make index.php a valid directory index.

Excuse my not knowing, but how would I implement .htaccess to do this?

I figured it out, I believe :

I put this line at the beginning of an .htaccess file

DirectoryIndex index.php


Is the normal practice? I never set this up on my last host and it worked right off the bat.
