  • How to make a open forum - closed for posting?

    What do I mean?
Well, I want to have an anouncement forum, where only certain people can post, but where anyone can read...

I would imagine that it would be possible, however, I haven't been able to extensively talk to someone about VBB 2.0... However I am buying one in about 2-3 months, so we'll see I guess

    Good luck.

If it's not possible, it should!

When I edit the Forum I have this option:

      "Open for new posts?
(Will have lock if not, but still act as forum)"

Isn't it possible to make it so that moderators and whoever assigned, do have permission to create new threads and posts???

Yes, of course -- this is what the forum permission system is for.

Well, explain it to me then, because I can't get this to work. I have used the option mentioned above to close the Forum for new posts.
Now nobody can post there. Not even the moderators of that Forum, or admin, or anybody and I can't figure out a way to give permissions that bypass that lock.

How do I set up a forum where nobody can post except specific people?

You don't want to lock the forum.

In the usergroups and permissions area, select modify forums. Go to the forum you want to edit, and select "registered". Take away their posting permissions. Repeat for any groups you don't want to post.
