New User Group Question

I started a forum 2 weeks ago, for physicians but open to the public, becasue another web site has had recent problems and left several docs without a forum, I have been asked by about 30 new members today if I can create a private group within the forum with forums that are visible to only users in that group, ie the docs, I would have to verify their identity. How do I make this private group/forum wihout making them moderators?

Create a new group in your:

Admin CP -> User Groups -> Add

Create the new forum in your:

Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Add

Ignore the Private forum option. Then edit that forum's group permissions in your:

Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Permissions

This part should be self-explanatory. Edit each group's permissions for the private forum. Deny access to all but the new group you created (and any other groups that you want to have access).

You can add users to the new group by editing their profiles in your:

Admin CP -> Users -> Find
