  • Get rid of redirect messages?

Is it possible to get rid of the redirect messages?

It would sometimes be usefull instead of showing the redirect message, to go directly to the page after it. Also, the 1 second meta refresh is to short to display a bunch of redirect text. I know I could make it longer, but people don't want to read all this stuff and go directly to the result page.

I could also delete all the texts & and have an empty 1 second redirect page, but then again it could cause trouble on slow connections.

    Any suggestions / ideas?

fuseTalk doesn't have a display page, and I think EZBoard just has a very short one, but it would be very nice if there just was NONE at all. :)

I can't even find the refresh tag. I searched every frikkin file and the only one I found was in the admin section and it wasn't for the redirect pages...

They're all handled by the standard_redirect template... It's a meta refresh tag. :)

Just remember, since that template handles all the redirects by using a variable for the message displayed, and a variable for the URL to redirect to... If you change that template, every redirect will be changed. :)

I swear, I could fool around with the templates for hours, I love it! :D

                really??

well, templatize the e-mail hack for me!!! ;)

I dunno if I'm gonna get to it tonight. Eric changed it up to keep you from being able to change the e-mail addys, so the code in the hack forum is already outdated.

I'm gonna be busy for a while re-compiling the latest PHP 4.0
I'm hoping that this one will let me in the CP for 1.1.2

                ~sigh~

                  I'm a Flash designer, remember? :D

The redirect pages are there for a reason. If the script went directly back to the thread, then when the user clicked refresh to see if there were any new replies then they would very likely re-submit the form at the same time.

I am thinking about ways to get around this, so if anyone has any bright ideas, let me know!

How about having the redirect page send a "Location:" header which would immediately send the user to the thread without loading any HTML.

I personally like the redirect messages... Having a confirmation so people know their post was successful is a good thing, in my opinion. :)
