Importing a UBB

I am in a very difficult situation.
I ran a UBB at http://www.dvdboard.de

I am moving to a new server on which I still have no telnet access (nor root) (but mySql and unlimited traffic :) ).
Since I got my own Linux box here (which will not be the server), I thought about moving the UBB on the Linux box and converting it to vBulletin here.

BUT
after I have created a wonderful SQL database, HOW do I move it to the new host? As I said: No telnet access there, no root, just phpMyAdmin I guess (not sure yet, but they will need some sort of admin tool). So what do I do?

Thanks for any help, I truelly feel stuck.

Does everybody have their own servers except me? :(
Or is my issue just too difficult?

you need telnet access. if you can't get telenet access, you need your host to dump your db to a text file. then you can ftp it over to your new box and import into your new db.

I have to agree with Huss there. You really do need Telnet access to do it well. However, here is something that may work:

Download all your UBB members, posts and settings to your local linux server
Run the vbulletin import script and import into vbulletin
Upload the mysql forum database directory (probably /usr/local/mysql/var/forum) onto the server.
Try to connect to the uploaded database
I have no idea whether that will work well or not. It will be step 4 before you can tell whether it has or not.

Sorry I still dont get a clue.

This is what I CAN do:
Import the old UBB to A sql (its located somewhere else). On the old box, i have root, so no prob.
So the last point I understand i a textdump rom the sql... this will be the new DB for the new vBulletin.

But now: I am not allowed to do a telnet on the new server, only ftp. I cannot even login to the new SQL server via ftp (they separate SQL and hosting).
What I CAN do is set up a phpmyadmin on the new web server which is allowed to interact with the sql database server (they only allow local Class-C connects).

so: is there any way to import the dumped sql file via phpmyadmin to the new sql? maybe even with several copy&paste sessions?
OR is there any possibility to do a sql-server to sql-server direct transfer?

Thank you all very much for your help, this issue is crucial for me... if this won't work, the idea of a new vBulletin has died for me :(

I think phpmyAdmin has the ability to dump to a CSV file and then import back functions also.

Not tried it, but the functions are there on the page where you view a table.

I think that you should try having a look at phpmyadmin in that case. It does have dump and import functions, so you would probably have to dump each table from the old server and then import it into the new one.

Alternativaly, you could use the mysqldump program to dump the database, and use the SQL statements that this creates in phpmyadmin. This would take a long time of you have a lot of messages.
