Very active vb sites to look at?

I run a high volume UBB site and would like to try out some high volume vb sites. I tried the three listed on the home page. The straight dope site unfortunately is having some sort of a problem with the search right now.

Anyone out there own or know of some other sites to look at? Before I seriously consider a switch of this magnitude I need some more confirmation from current users with busy sites.

BTW, we aren't a huge site by any means. What I mean by high volume is around 3,000,000 page views per month.

You mean hits, not page views, right? If you had 3,000,000 page views a month, you would be in like the top 5 sites on the web....

      chica,

Not hardly! If you had 30+million page views a month, then you would have a larger site on the internet. Mine gets around 1,500,000+ impressions a month, and there are many many others out there that do as well.

I apologize, I don't think I was clear. I meant that if you had that many page views on your bulletin board...

That's page views, not hits. It's actually a little more than that as it runs between 100 - 120k page views per day. In the forums.

            And it's growing fast.

On OT that would cost me $3000 - $3500 per month from what I can tell. :D

Yes and most of the 1,500,000 page views is on my forums every month as well!

So that is why some people (like myself) could no longer throw money at the UBB.

We were getting ready to throw more money at it! We were planning on leasing another server to put our free home page software on as well as our upcoming free e-mail software. It seemed the only way to keep the UBB running and still expand the site.

I bet we could just keep everything on our current server with vB. So you can add in the cost of another big dedicated to the price differential.

Yeah, John (the developer here) has a large forum (VB World) hosted on this server as well. It is a dedicated P3 600MHZ - 256Ram (I believe) and his forum has 7700 some members and 50 or so thousand posts, as well as his whole site is database driven. So that is a good example as well.

Just because my site is small, doesn't mean I don't get pageviews. Right now I'm looking at around 300-500k p/v's per day, and that's only in the forums directory.

500,000 page views a day!?! Holy crap that's big. It's not the Bronx Bombers site, so where is it?

Anyway, answer to the question, BigSoccer is doing 100-120k on the boards each day, we imported 200,000 posts, blah blah.

Glad to hear it, Huss. The server you're running is a little faster than mine, but they're pretty close.

I tried a few searches at your site (nice site btw) and it seemed to run very fast. Are you happy with the performance so far?

extremely. everything is faster, better since we switched from ubb.

but we had to spend more money on ram.
