    Dumn question

    John:

When we buy the license do we also get the files that go with it that we can store on our computers so that we can mod the file and upload them as with UBB and its .cgi/.pl files? Or do we have to do all the changes in the templates?

Not sure I quite understand your question... Don't forget that the scripts are PHP not perl.

Ok, when you buy UBB you get all the files that come with the program and if you make any mods to these files you can then upload them to make the changes to your forum. Is this similiar in that you get all the files needed to have on your local machine that you can mod and then upload to change the script? Say I want to change the layout so that the email, profile, etc. icons in each post isn't at the bottom of the message but at the top instead. Can I go this in the control panel of the program or do I make the mod to the script layout and then upload this file back to the server?

        Oh right..gotcha

You do get all the source code to change what your want in it and add all the hacks that you want. The beauty of vBulletin is that everything comes out of templates that can be edited through a web browser. I could put those icons above the post if I wanted by just making a few changes to the template from the control panel.

We will be releasing an interactive demo of control panel in the next few days. Then you will understand fully what I mean.

John, may I suggest a FAQ for these type of questions?
