  • Problems with MYSQL stuck at step 3!!

I am trying to set up vbulletin lite on my company's server. After successful installation we are planning to purchase the license version for company use.

I am running a Windows 2K server (IIS) and installed PHP and SQL(?). At step 3 I recieve the following error:Attempting to connect...

Warning: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in db_mysql.php on line 31

Warning: Unknown error in db_mysql.php on line 139

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in db_mysql.php on line 37

Warning: Unknown error in db_mysql.php on line 139

Any ideas? I think the problem may be in the MYSQL installaion. Does anyone have step by step instructions on installing? The MYSQL website was not too helpful for me! :(

I am trying to install the mysql-3.23.21-beta-win-src version.

    Any help would be appreciated!

generally this is because of a bad username/password combo or a bad DB name.

It would help if you posted your config.php here *'ing out the password, of course...

also, what version of php are you running?

I am getting the following error aslso at step 3. I had the vB lite version before this, but am installing the full version to a different directory on the host server. I havent as yet reset the database, I think that comes as an option in further steps?

          what does 1044 error mean?

          Attempting to connect...

Connect failed: unexpected error from the database.

          Error number: 1044

Error description: Access denied for user: '[email protected]' to database 'forum'

Please ensure that the database and server is correctly configured and try again.

              What is called then?

The setup should automatically name it what ever the default is, since i Have not changed anything it should save and load the default as "forum" surely?

We can't tell you what your database is called. Please check with your host for that information.

By default though, doesn't vB during installation give the db a name?

No - you have to specify a valid database beforehand - however, vB can reset it for you.
