i use vb1.6 but i get this problem this morning

That happens when you have a corrupted database (or some other problem). I can't tell your for sure without seeing the error message, but if you look for eva's sig, he has links to resources telling you how to fix everything.

I had the same problem. I fixed this another way, since i don't have root permissions on my server.
These are the steps:[list=1][*]Close vB Board using control panel[*]Make backup of your forum database using mysqldump[*]reset backup by catting the backup file to mysql[*]put your board back online[/list=1]
This worked for me. I used the --opt option on mysqldump.
