What could be the problem here?

Every now and then I get this message and can't access my board through index.php - I wait a couple minutes and all is well:

Warning: Unknown MySQL Server Host (coexboard.prohosting.com) (0) in admin/db_mysql.php on line 31

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

What could be the problem???

Maybe your MySQL host is down for a minute when you get that error? Have you tried to access it through telnet when it is down?

that or perhaps DNS is failing, put the numer ip to the server in config.php

Wow, I switched the hostname to the actual IP number and, well I don't know if it's my imagination but my site speed has gone up about 30%. Could this be correct - it seems consistent?

That seems logical. MySQL must have been resolving the hostname for the database server every time that you connected to the database.
