Never mind, I just had to reinstall everything since weeks go by and no resolution... I understand charging for support, or my support runs out, but I think that if it's unstable, support should be provided. seems like a lot of issues regarding vbulletin 5 and upgrades/installs. just my 2 cents worth.

and it looks like I have those, as they end in ...-rollup-504.js but the code doesn't call it? I don't know how it's suppose to work I guess

IIRC, there is core/install/jsrollup.php file (not sure if the filename and path are correct) that you can run to generate the js bundles/rollups. It should generate the js rollup files with filenames in this format: xxxx-rollup-<version>.js and overwrites the existing ones (if any).

So this is getting depressing. spent money on a forum, never works. I logged into the admin and checked can use the search bar, no side menu, and finally found the template editor. I did a revert on all files and it says it has nothing to do. None of the templates are red, so i'm assuming they were all reverted... although the preheader when I edit it says 5.0.0 beta 28 or something... and I can see it calling js/header-rollup.js

no idea, tired of working on it. anyone have suggestions. I guess I could just delete everything and start over? that would suck...

Are either your header or preheader templates modified?

    http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/header-rollup.js?v=504

this file doesn't exist in there. but because I went from 5.0.2. to 5.0.4, these files do

    http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/...-rollup-502.js
    http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/...-rollup-504.js

    but no file named http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/header-rollup.js

same with footer rollup and other js files. I see some with -502 at the end and some with -504 at the end. I confimred they are all on the server though, yes.

The js paths return 404 errors. Do you have the js folder in the root?

do I need to edit the config_cli.php file in the /core/includes to do anything?

Yes, I am using the new config.php in the root of the /forums and also in the core/includes/ I simply updated my db information and in the .htaccess, I'm using the 5.0.4 file, but I adde done line to the top to use php 5.3 on there... which was needed. I also edited the rewrite folder to /forums/

I have uploaded the files all twice, to ensure they were good... it's picking up data and the forums are there, I just can't click login at the top and the admin menu is not there.

When you reuploaded the files, did you make sure to use a new .htaccess from the 5.0.4 and add any changes you had made to the old one (RewriteBase, or php version code)? And, did you make sure to use the new 5.0.4 presentation config.php file?

So I did as suggested, reuploaded, re-ran the upgrade script, it went through 14 steps, said it was all successful, removed install directory, same admin menu... just those brackets. 5.0.2 was running good, other than a bunch of bugs, so I figured why not upgrade to 5.0.4... looks like it went smoothly, but...

If you visit the forum, you can't click on login at the top either. I uploaded through WS_FTP and it all looked good on upload. I used dreamweaver the first time. so I don't think ftping and bad files is the issue... but you would probably know better than I.

    any help appreciated

You really need to start with a full reupload, one or more files is likely bad.

when I finished, I saw the message here on my dashboard to revert my header.php, so I hit revert header and it said it did it... I think that was the only file I had changed for the most part... so thought I did it all right. I can't get any menus now though. as you can see from the attached image.
