  • Upgrade from 5.0.2 to 5.0.4 gone wrong... no admin menu

I upgraded 5.0.2 to 5.0.4 and now in my admincp, I don't see the menu on the left. The upgrade process went ok, said it was done. I can see the front of my forum, but nothing on the left menu of my admin.

I can't also click on login at my forum. www.wpeasycart.com/forums doesn't show anything when login is clicked...

Firstly can you please revert your header template? If you can get to that part of the admincp.
If not click here for the direct link:
    http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/adm....php?do=modify
Select "Edit Templates" from the dropdown on the right.
Look for "Header", then click on it once and select "Revert" on the right.
That ought to sort out the login link not functioning.

Without seeing the AdminCP itself it's tricky to know what wrong in there, but you could start by doing this:
    http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/adm...buildbitfields

If that fails we're really going to need some credentials to take a look.
Your ticket support has expired, however if after trying the above you're still having trouble post back and we'll open you a support ticket so we can obtain the credentials securely.

when I finished, I saw the message here on my dashboard to revert my header.php, so I hit revert header and it said it did it... I think that was the only file I had changed for the most part... so thought I did it all right. I can't get any menus now though. as you can see from the attached image.

You really need to start with a full reupload, one or more files is likely bad.

So I did as suggested, reuploaded, re-ran the upgrade script, it went through 14 steps, said it was all successful, removed install directory, same admin menu... just those brackets. 5.0.2 was running good, other than a bunch of bugs, so I figured why not upgrade to 5.0.4... looks like it went smoothly, but...

If you visit the forum, you can't click on login at the top either. I uploaded through WS_FTP and it all looked good on upload. I used dreamweaver the first time. so I don't think ftping and bad files is the issue... but you would probably know better than I.

          any help appreciated

When you reuploaded the files, did you make sure to use a new .htaccess from the 5.0.4 and add any changes you had made to the old one (RewriteBase, or php version code)? And, did you make sure to use the new 5.0.4 presentation config.php file?

Yes, I am using the new config.php in the root of the /forums and also in the core/includes/ I simply updated my db information and in the .htaccess, I'm using the 5.0.4 file, but I adde done line to the top to use php 5.3 on there... which was needed. I also edited the rewrite folder to /forums/

I have uploaded the files all twice, to ensure they were good... it's picking up data and the forums are there, I just can't click login at the top and the admin menu is not there.

The js paths return 404 errors. Do you have the js folder in the root?

                      http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/header-rollup.js?v=504

this file doesn't exist in there. but because I went from 5.0.2. to 5.0.4, these files do

                      http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/...-rollup-502.js
                      http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/...-rollup-504.js

                      but no file named http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/header-rollup.js

same with footer rollup and other js files. I see some with -502 at the end and some with -504 at the end. I confimred they are all on the server though, yes.

and what's odd, I see if I look at this forum, it is calling http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/js/footer-rollup-504.js

so I guess, why is mine calling http://www.wpeasycart.com/forums/js/...ollup.js?v=504

Are either your header or preheader templates modified?

So this is getting depressing. spent money on a forum, never works. I logged into the admin and checked can use the search bar, no side menu, and finally found the template editor. I did a revert on all files and it says it has nothing to do. None of the templates are red, so i'm assuming they were all reverted... although the preheader when I edit it says 5.0.0 beta 28 or something... and I can see it calling js/header-rollup.js

no idea, tired of working on it. anyone have suggestions. I guess I could just delete everything and start over? that would suck...

IIRC, there is core/install/jsrollup.php file (not sure if the filename and path are correct) that you can run to generate the js bundles/rollups. It should generate the js rollup files with filenames in this format: xxxx-rollup-<version>.js and overwrites the existing ones (if any).
