  • Blank Page - 4.2.0 > 5.0.1 Upgrade

    Hi Guys,

After performing an upgrade to 5.0.1 from 4.2.0 I get a blank page when trying to access the forums/admincp etc.

I created a new folder and uploaded installation files, configured configs.php to point at 4.2.0 database, then ran the upgrade command via shell (rather large database).

When this first completed, I received a internal server error,

[Sun May 05 04:13:47 2013] [error] [client x.x.x.x.x] SoftException in Application.cpp:256: File "/home/gtesport/public_html/community5/index.php" is writeable by group.

I adjusted index.php chmod to 644 and now I receive the blank page.

    Any assistance would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

maybe something go wrong with the config.php

    try this config.php builder

if the issue still exist check the URL rewrite function in your .htaccess

configs are fine, even after using the builder.

What am I checking when looking at the .htaccess file?

Note: previous fresh installs have worked fine previously.

Have tried fresh upgrade with new copy of 4.2.0 database.

Internal server error received now when trying to access install/upgrade.php.

just use the original .htaccess file from the vbulletin package file that you've downloaded it.

            That's what I'm using.

edit: looks like a permissions issues. reset perms on core/install (inclusive) to 755 and set 644 on upgrade.php and it loads fine.

Why would the permissions be wrong after uploading the files?

You should ask your host about that
