  • Suggestion? Could be BUT more of a has it been done or could it be done question

    HI,
I would like to have a set of questions THAT must be ticked in order to proceed further BUT want it to be an integral part of the forum I run.
Looked around the net and seen many forms available BUT NOT so if as I need ~ an integrated one.
ANY IDEAS and or help would be appreciated.
NOW~ I Come from a very specific point...... in *TOME*
One that goes back to *before* Fishies.......Grew *Toes*

BUT~ NOT to point before Fishies, recognised *point* ~To Nose
OR *MOM*~Shiver'd AT ALL> D'Stars wanting to *own* ~*HER HOME*

I'm not clear on what you mean by "ticked." Do you mean like a checkbox? Like the privacy policy?

      Hi,
      Yes that's it
BUT~ I will have about 20 boxes with question/statements listed down the page in 1 group, about 10 as another group and a further 10 as a 3rd group.

The problem besides actually getting such *is* that ALL boxes MUST be checked, dependent on group applicable, WHEREUPON.... having done so, the applicant is then sent to a sign-in page.

      Something like below;

      BOX to tick ~ Question/statement
      BOX to tick ~ Question/statement
      BOX to tick ~ Question/statement
      etc,etc

So, you want these to appear before a guest can register or sign in?

If I understand that correctly you should just use the existing modal that the privacy policy uses.

I doubt seriously that you would want 20 separate modals though. One should be sufficient.

If it were me I would just copy the existing privacy policy modal to a new template and edit it for my needs.

Then it would appear like the privacy policy does, as soon as any user visits the core forum URL.

You can create required questions in the AdminCP by creating Custom User Profile Fields. You can set these to be required at registration. There is no pagination in this system though so 30 questions is going to create a lengthy registration form.

General practice is not to provide support via Private Message. I'll approve the request but there is no way to make a multi-page questionnaire in the system.

This was my first thought but he said he wanted them to appear before registration which seemed to rule it out as an option.

Can you make the default style available for use? You can do this by checking its box in the Style Manager and allowing users to switch styles under Settings -> Options -> Style & Language Options.

The issue is that the contrast on your custom style is very poor and I cannot read what you have laid out on those pages.

OK ~ GOT IT NOW.... sorry about that

OK~ my apologies. I have now increased AND changed both the size of font and colour in order to make it more readable.

Please however~ try to read it as I've posted it. ( the issue of styles is one I'm still considering. )

There is no way to ask "If this, then ask that" type of question in the system.

There is no way to assign a person to a usergroup automatically based on the answers they provide in the system.

Each of these would be a separate feature request. However, I'll be honest the priority on adding these features would not be very high unless they get an overwhelming number of votes.

DAM! ~ BUT~ Thanks for getting back to me.

If I found a developer ( as one from Toptal.com ) are offering to provide/find for me~ would he/she be able to achieve such a task.
AND~ if so, what would be the minimum coding experience I should be looking for with Him/Her?

I guess it would depend on the developer and what they would charge. However, a developer should be able to accomplish the task if they are worth the money.

Yeh, I really beginning to understand not only just how rare they are but also just how costly. Toptal for example aren't interested if the job doesn't even start with 80hours & that at min cost $25hour = $ 2000 BUT when asked told not good need $60/min hour = $4800 AND EVEN THEN no certainty the job will get done.

I do so wish Glenn was available again now that I have some money for it.

ANYWAY~ I have as most I suppose a WP site AND have found that there are such things as Forms, a plug-in ~ AND THE BEST seen to be Gravity forms, Do you know of them?
They have an option for the setting of conditionals + other features ( below )

) Do you think there is any value in pursuing that line of thought?

NOT Cheap........ BUT a dam sight cheaper than having to have a programmer do it.

OH~ and they offer a thing called web-hooks THEY BEING I think what you are talking about ( see below )
