  • New install in root is not working (/core dir not used)

    I try to install the latest version of VB in my root domain. I am using the following config.php in my includes folder located in core.

    // ****** DATABASE NAME ******
    $config['Database']['dbname'] = 'database';

    // ****** TABLE PREFIX ******
    $config['Database']['tableprefix'] = '';

    // ****** TECHNICAL EMAIL ADDRESS ******
    $config['Database']['technicalemail'] = '[email protected]';

    // ****** MASTER DATABASE SERVER NAME AND PORT ******
    $config['MasterServer']['servername'] = 'localhost';
    $config['MasterServer']['port'] = 3306;

    // ****** MASTER DATABASE USERNAME & PASSWORD ******
    $config['MasterServer']['username'] = 'mydbuser';
    $config['MasterServer']['password'] = 'mydbpass';

    // ****** MASTER DATABASE PERSISTENT CONNECTIONS ******
    $config['MasterServer']['usepconnect'] = 0;

    // Prefix that all vBulletin cookies will have
    $config['Misc']['cookieprefix'] = 'bb';

    // ******** FULL PATH TO FORUMS DIRECTORY ******
    $config['Misc']['forumpath'] = '/var/www/mydomain.org/html/core';

    // ******** FRONTEND (SITE) URL ******
    $config['Misc']['baseurl'] = 'https://mydomain.org';
    No matter what i try, after installation, i cannot access admincp, because it is pointing to https://mydomain.org/admincp, while it is available at /core/admincp. But logging in on that domain isn't working, because it goes back to an url without the /core in it.

    The point is that i do not want to have the /core in my url. I want my installation from the root of my domain.

    How can i use my root domain as my forum location, while it is still using the /core folder in the background?

    Have you renamed htaccess.txt to .htaccess as per the install instructions? This contains the necessary rewrite rules.

      Yes, i did, thats the problem. I didn't altered it though. I can go to admincp using https://mydomain.org/core/admincp, but after i login it goes to https://mydomain.org/login.php?do=login and i get

      Code:
      File not found.
      it is getting annoying i found some solutions like putting everything in /forums, but i don't want that. I want it to be available in the root of my domain.

        You must not change the file and folder structure of vBulletin. It will not work.

        You will need to speak to your host about why rewrite rules are not working on your server.

          I am my own host (Centos 8). So i looked further and found out that the mod_rewrite module is enabled in my 00-base.conf, but that

          Code:
          <Directory /var/www/mydomain.org/html>
          AllowOverride All
          </Directory>
          was not added into mydomain.org.conf in my virtual host directory. It is now working.
