  • Fresh Install Not Finding Server

    VB = 5.6
    PHP = 7.4.4
    MySQL = 5.5.64-MariaDB
    https://www.scottishminis.com/forums/

    I recently moved servers due to the old host not supporting me with the latest PHP and MySQL versions, my site was redundant from about June 2019, so, since my host was due for renewal i moved to a new host with the latest specs to keep VB 5 connect running ok.
    I have 2 other VB 4 forums and both are working great.
    I have the database backup from my VB 5 forum.

    After new install when i click on goto adminCP i get teh following error:-

    The requested URL /forums/admincp was not found on this server.

    I'm guessing at a redirect rule or something.
    I've checked a good few threads about editing the htaccess file but really am not sure what to uncomment etc, can anyone advise?
    I have also moved to https from the regular http.

    Thanks

      I used that link to get as far as i got, i have an SSL Cert installed, the same as the one i had when my forum was suspended due to incorrect PHP and MySQL.
      So, sadly, to just say have you done everything in this link does not help me 100 per cent.

      It's a brand new install with my database uploaded, i can't get to the admin panel, i set the https in during the install for forum url etc and the correct username and password for the number 1 admin.

      See pic for forum home page, it's almost working, it needs a tweak somewhere and i cant find it

        If you're using SQL 5.5 that's a problem. vBulletin 5 requires SQL 5.6.10 or higher.

                So, i've upgraded the MySQL to 10.0.38-MariaDB and have successfully installed the base 5.6 version.
                I can post, create channels etc, however, when i upload my newest database i pretty much get the same image as shown above, does this mean my database is corrupt?
                I have around 20 back ups and all seem to break the forum the same way, is there any way to repair it etc

                  The next question is: Did you delete all of the vBulletin 4 files before uploading the vBulletin 5 files? It looks like the CSS is broken. Do you have an old .htaccess file on the server?

                    This forum has always been a version 5 site, it's never been upgraded from 4 and i used the .htaccess file from the latest download of 5.6.

                    I really don't want to have to start from scratch again, is there any way to check if a database is corrupt?

                      I once again installed the 5.6 version and made a few channels and posts, i then downloaded the database, then deleted the posts etc. I checked the site was still working and then uploaded the database and the previously deleted channels and posts were returned and the site functioned correctly.

                      Am gutted all my old databases appear corrupt, so, again i'm gonna ask if there is anyway to repair a database so that i can get back up and running again?

                        I'm going to let Wayne Luke answer that question as I'm not the best qualified person to answer questions pertaining to repairing vBulletin 5 databases.

                          Wait, before we start talking about corrupt databases and suchlike.

                          The screenshot appears to show simply that the CSS isn't loading which is usually quite easily fixed, it can be caused by a number of issues.

                          Can you get the site up and running to the degree shown in the screenshot again?

                            Yep, thats the forum loaded with the last database that worked prior to the hack, but, note, it doesn't run, you can't open anything with the forum in this state

                            Hopefully you can see the problem

                              Hmm, so, while waiting for assistance, i started to create the bare bones of a forum and installed Tapatalk.
                              I then uploaded my old database as requested by Mark B.

                              So, i added the Scottish Minis to my Tapatalk app on my iPhone and tried accessing the forum via the app. Happy to say i could see the forum and even post to it, so, my problem is not the database but something else.

                              So, is there anyone who thinks they can help me to figure this out?
