    Hmmm

    I get this error consistantly on install.

    Unexpected Text:
    {"errors":[["unexpected_error","invalid_page_url"]]} Script: install
    Step: 6

    More details, up till this point all looks OK
    • nserting default data into reputationlevel
    • Inserting default data into smilie
    • Inserting default data into usergroup
    • Inserting default data into usertitle
    • Step 5 - General settings saved
    • Step 6 - Unexpected Text:
      {"errors":[["unexpected_error","invalid_page_url"]]}

    The install is in the root into which I uploaded the contents of the upload folder
    renamed htaccess to .htaccess
    Removed .bkp from the root config.php
    Into core/includes,config.php and entered all the details, as can be seen DB connectivity is fine. Other than adding in database details and admin email its stock setup.
    Folders 755 and files 644

    If I run phpinfo at root I can see php 7.3.12
    The phpmyadmin is a little confusing though
    Database Server version: 5.6.41-84.1 - Percona Server (GPL), Release 84.1, Revision b308619

    • Database client version: libmysql - 5.1.73
    • PHP extension: mysqliDocumentation curlDocumentation mbstringDocumentation
    • PHP version: 7.2.7
    Might just be mysql is running on a different server ?

    What is the installer looking for in step 6 ?? and perhaps i have to explicitly add the url home/xxx/xxxx ??

    Any help appreciated, the vB4 installs on same server run fine

    John

    Thanks In Advance

    Step 6 of the install procedure creates the default Super Administrator (userid #1) with information provided by you. Are you using the web based installer in a browser or trying to install from the command line?

    If you are using the command line installer, make sure to rename /core/includes/config_cli.php.new to /core/includes/config_cli.php and fill out this part in the file:

    Code:
    $config_cli['cli']['user_data'] = array(
        "username" => "",
        "password" => "",
        "confirmpassword" => "",
        "email" => ""
    Otherwise use the Web based installer.

      Thanks for the quick reply Luke,

      I am using the web based installer, not the CLI

      Very odd, seems to be failing on populating the tables but can create them OK which i would assume means permissions are OK.

      Anything else I can prod ?

        I started the install process again on assumption i could not make it any worse :-D

        I expected it to start again, give warning on existing data and option to clear table but it went right to "Upgrading to 5.5.5"

        It rolled all the way to
        final Step #15
        Fatal Error Occurred
        Error Could not find phrase 'no_permission'. Arguments given were: on /core/vb/api/template.php : 555

        Script: final
        Step: 15

        the 555 has me confused so I will go back and check permissions again as I thought I had already CHMOD them all correctly

          Are you getting the popup to create an Administrator user?

            Yes, UserName, PW twice and email all smooth.

            Are there any limitations on the password characters Wayne ?? I tend to use reasonably strong ones these days for the admin account which includes null characters, is there any way some of these cannot be used ?? When i set up the other vb4 installs I was not quite as paranoid on passwords ;-)

            I will drop all the existing tables and rerun the installer, hope that is not it !

              Wayne

              Sorted, I removed the null characters and all went smooth as can be.

              So it seems the installer did not like the use of # ? or % when entering passwords userid 1 ( or the mysql config is at fault somehow on char set will check later)

              When it began the "upgrade" part above, I noticed no user in the tables which I guess is why that wnt pear shaped as well.

              Anyway, sorted now. Thanks for the speedy reply Wayne.

              Now i can see what else i can break :-D
