If you're missing an extension, you should get a fatal error. It shouldn't affect the overall operation of Apache though. The required extensions are listed in the vb5readme.html file that ships with the software as well as in the online manual and in the topic linked below:

maybe I miss some extensions for php?

I have another question if its not a problem to ask it here.
when I archive some posts the whole forum is getting stuck. The only way to be able to get back on track is to restart apache or the server. This was also on the old server after migrating from vb 4 to 5.

After your migration, did you rebuild your search engine and clear the system cache? You can do both of these in the AdminCP under Maintenance.
