  • Done something very silly with the latest upgrade!

    Hope someone can help, or at least point me in the right direction.

    While doing an upgrade from 5.1.3 to 5.1.5, (No I did not back up pre upgrade....)
    Instead of copying the upload folder into the main forum folder I put it in the core folder......

    Realizing my mistake i tried to rectify by uploading to the right place.

    - I have no access to the upgrade.php etc admincp.
    - Formatting is completely gone on the forum.
    - login/other functions are buggered!
    - the one sense of relief is the content and structure still seems to be intact.

    Although the forum was fully set up, it was not used as much as we had intended and had planned to remake/revamp it drastically.

    Is there a way to rescue the data and apply it to a new forum installation? or am Just going to have to start again?

    Or please is there a simple fix i dont know about??????????????

    Thanks in advance

    You don't need to start again.;
    Easiest fix is to take a copy of the forum folder, then delete everything in the forum folder, upload a fresh copy of the files from the members area, re-edit the two config files (the one in the front end only needs renaming), then run the upgrade script.
    The two config files could be extracted from your backup and copied back.

    If your forum has custom styles or addons there may be image files or php files to put back for those.

        I've managed to run the upgrade script. But now the forum homepage does not show and admincp says forbidden.

        Im going to keep trying, Running an install fails with error code1 and it wants to remove the tables in my db, so I'm guessing this is not the right thing to do?

        Any more Advice would be greatly appreciated.
