  • WANTED: Someone to install VB5 for a sports forum

I dont know if this thread goes here, feel free to move if not, couldn't find a place to ask so here goes.

I have a pretty active sports forum with a problematic VB4.1.3 VB version. I just bought our new license and with to upgrade our forum to the latest VB running.
I'd like all the bells and whistles on it as well as a complete transfer of users, messages and anything running. Id rely heavily on your thoughts and concerns as well as any advice. I really want the new forum to be state of the art as far as forums go. Our current VB site as www.BuffaloRange.com and you can email me at [email protected]

Thank you and have a great day!

I'd personally recommend you repair your vB4 installation. vB5 is not yet ready for live production sites. If you need help with that feel free to send me a PM.

We don't allow requests for service here, though you could try asking on www.vbulletin.org, where it *is* allowed.

As stated above, at this stage vBulletin 5.0.0 is not recommended for live sites, because it is still a beta product.

As you are already running 4.1.3, I would initially look at an upgrade to 4.2.0 - there are some nice new features in it, it's very stable, and contains many bugfixes over your current version.

You can then upgrade further to 5.0.0 at a later time, if you wish to.

Yes we're currently running 4.1.3 and we just bought the most recent license which would allow us to upgrade to 4.2.0. I would need someone who knows this stuff because I sure don't and my last so called admin, ugh, things are a little messed up right now. I will go ask on VB.org and thanks again!!

In addition I would also suggest to upgrade your forum to the latest version of the 4.2. series because you are running an older version that contains known security issues not to mention the numerous bugs.

Take it from me...Do not attempt to run it as your main site...
It does not support the publishing CMS yet and it had more bugs than a house in the middle of the Everglades...
I have it installed as a test site only to get familiar with the workings which right now have less features than you are running in VB4.2
The forum software or look and settings are a lot like vb4 the one thing they added was the page modification tabs on the front end...in 5
PM barbole, he will help you with exactly what you asked.
but again do not run it as your live site until Gold release version comes out...
                      Here I go again...
I have 15 Live members on my site...So even if you want to bash me stop in and visit please...
