  • Clean Upgrade

Hi, I want to plan a clean upgrade, I mean, after the upgrade, I want to erase all current files from VB4 and upload VB5. So my question is, which folders should I keep?. For example, the attachments folder should be keeped. Any else?

    Thanks for your advice

Yes, keep the attachments folder and delete the rest of which belongs to vB4. Then upload vB5 and do the upgrade. Best is to run a test (backup your database!!!) before and see if any errors appear.

I have a folder called "up", it's for hosting images of my forum.

If I delete this folder I will lose all the pictures in my forum.

So, can i keep it in my public_html before uploading vb5 files ?

Yes, otherwise you will lose them.

What about avatars and profiles pictures? I was thinking of doing an install of vbulletin 5, and use impex to import users and forums and on.... is that doable support? what are the pros and cons ?

              ImpEx doesn't support vBulletin 5.

In vBulletin 5, the Avatar is the Profile Picture.
