/forum/forum - double forum in path?

My site is adding a second /forum in the path on certain clicks. For example:

VB5.11 is installed in folder /forum
Site URL is myforum.com which points to myforum.com/forum

The behaviour I am seeing is on come clicks, it goes to myforum.com/forum/forum which then causes my side bar widgets etc... not to appear on /forums/forums.

This is how the software is written. The second "forum" is the content type.

So, is there a easy way to replicate the page layout for /forum to /forum/forum?

You could switch it to a two column sidebar layout and add the same modules onto the sidebar. It would be very similar at that point.
