Cannot remove a link once a message is posted

I am having a strange issue. If you add a link to a post and later try to go back and remove the link via edit, the system will not allow it. I made a 1 min video to demonstrate the issue. Anyone have any ideas on what might be going on?

This is by design. You've cereated your post as a Link Content Type, and these must contain at least one link.
There is no way to switch content types once they are set.
