  • Storage engine (MyISAM vs. InnoDB vs. ARIA)

    Hello,

I'm on the latest version of vBulletin and noticed, that the MyISAM and InnoDB storage engines are used. Tables with lots of data (e.g. node, filedataresize) are using InnoDB.

It it possible to switch all tables to MyISAM or ARIA? Or will this create (performance) issues?

    Thanks in advance!

All tables in vBulletin 5 should use INNODB. The only exceptions are the language, phrase, and usertextfield tables and these should be MyISAM if you're using MariaDB or a version of MySQL below 5.7. InnoDB provides the best performance of all supported table engines. It has been the recommended table engine since vBulletin 4.0.0. Switching tables to MyISAM (and probably ARIA) will cause your software to die.
