    Hey, is it possible to convert automatically all uploaded pictures (the old ones and all pics which get uploaded by users in the future) into a different format as for example WebP?

    This would require custom coding and rewriting the image processing functionality. JPEG was chosen since there is no guarantee that the web server will even support other formats. If you look at /core/vb/image.php and /core/vb/image/*, you will see that vBulletin doesn't even support WebP right now.

    There is an open feature request to add WebP support to the software. Here:

    I don't think this would be actually difficult but am not a developer.

    Apple just implemented partial support for WebP in its browsers this year. That is almost 15% of worldwide marketshare. So WebP usage will increase in 2021 and beyond.

      I understand that majority of forum owners prefer users to upload image on the forum itself. I sort of do the opposite.
