previewtext column in text table

I have previewtext NULL by default

Does this affect DB search?

I have noticed that all NULL in preview text don't appear on search

Is there any relation?

And Do I need to change it to not NULL?

The default installation allows for a null value in this field. To be honest, I am not even sure when that field is used. Search doesn't use it. Mouseover previews use node.description.
