  • Cannot login to forums

    When I try to login to the forums nothing happens. The only way I can login is to login directly to AdminCP and then I can login to the Main Forum Page.

    When the page loads as a guest user this is what is displayed in Developer Tools:

    Once I enter my credentials and try to login it just returns me to the Forum Home Page as a Guest user (i.e. not logged in). During the login attempt there are no errors or issues displayed in Developer Tools other than those above.

    Is the URL in your browser's address bar the same as the one listed in your forum settings? From the output above I am guessing that you have 'https://www.dirtbikeworld.net/forum/' as your site's URL. This is the URL you must use when visiting the site.

    http is not the same as https. www. is not the same as without www.

    To redirect http to https, you should be able to uncomment these lines in the .htacccess file:

    Code:
    #To redirect users to the secure version of your site, uncomment the lines below
    #RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
    #RewriteRule .* https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
    Make them look like:
    Code:
    #To redirect users to the secure version of your site, uncomment the lines below
    RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
    RewriteRule .* https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
    Ask your hosting provider for the rules to redirect all incoming requests to www.

      Hey Wayne, yes, correct. The site URL in AdminCP includes https.

      I have already added the enforce HTTPS and WWW lines to the .htaccess file in my public_html directory; and while Chrome truncates the www in the address bar it is actually still there. So both the https and www are present in. the address bar (double click to display them) so not sure why the login still fails.

        Fixed. There was a html redirect file at the webroot redirecting from root to the /forum directory that was pointing to http instead of https.

        All working fine now.
