  • Obsolete Tables?

I ran dbtools utf8tablefix on a db originalyl migrated to 5.x.x from 4.25 and it did not process the following tables:

    vb_album
    vb_albumupdate
    vb_attachment
    vb_eventhighlight
    vb_eventhighlightpermission
    vb_legacyevent
    vb_tachyforumcounter
    vb_tachyforumpost
    vb_tachythreadcounter
    vb_tachythreadpost
    vb_vbfields

They are all InnoDB and did not appear in the list of updated tables output by the script. The collation type on these tables remained latin1_swedish_ci. The Forum is English language. Version 5.6.1 PL1.

Are these tables currently obsolete and deletable?

    VB 5.6.2 PL1
    PHP 7.4
    MySQL 5.7.24

    vb_eventhighlight and vb_eventhighlightpermission exist in vBulletin 5.

    The rest do not.

Do you have duplicates of those tables? Are they prefixed differently?

No dupes or different prefixes for vb_eventhighlight and vb_eventhighlightpermission tables in the database. I checked in they're not in the $tablelist array in vbtables.php. Should they be?

The new event highlight tables probably need to be added to the table list.

You're saying it did not process those tables. Are they already UTF-8? That seems the most logical answer.

If the tables are not in the list of tables to be processed, they won't be. People often install multiple applications in the database. This is the purpose of allowing a table prefix. We can't change the data in non-vB5 tables. For old vBulletin 4 tables, we keep them if we think they may serve a purpose in the future. Otherwise, they are dropped during the upgrade process.
