  • [Bug / Issue] Exclude from activity stream

I have a forum bot. How do I exclude it's posts or posts from the bots forums from showing up in the activity streaM

  • #2
There is no way to exclude content from the Activity stream based on the user record that created it. vBulletin doesn't know what a forum bot is. It will be treated just like any other user. If the viewing user has permission to view the content, it will show in the activity stream.

      Hi Wayne
Can you exclude by usergroup / forum or any other means?

The Activity Stream module uses the permissions of the viewer to determine what is and isn't included. If the viewer can see the content, it will be shown. Search modules have more options on what to include/exclude in the search.

From my perspective, you are going to want to create a feature request to exclude content created by specific usergroups from the activity stream.

Put that UserID on Global Ignore in the AdminCP.

Then their content most likely will not be visible anywhere. vBulletin 5 strips ignored content from view.

It should still be visible to the User who created it. I can't think of another way to hide it from the activity stream.

Your answer obviously makes more sense but it's not an immediate solution.

The way I read it is that they don't want the posts completely hidden. When you visit the specific forum, you should be able to see to posts created by their RSS Bot or whatever means it gets its information. They simply don't want the posts in the Activity Stream.

You read it correctly. The only other way I can think of is to have the bot post all of its content in one node and then to hide that node from the activity stream. I'm not sure that serves the customer's needs any better.

Sadly that also suppresses all the bot posts in the forums.

Wayne. That is correct. the RSS bot posts into 4 sub forums. While users do read those forums, we don't want all the noise in the activity stream.

How do I go about putting in a feature request. My mods are now pissed they see all the noise from the RSS feeds.
