It's wrapping because the word is too long for the space it's got. I don't think there's an easy way round this as the entire dropdown would need to made larger.
Might be worth logging a bug report for this.
In terms of turning notifcations off, it can be done by individual users in User Dropdown > User Settings > Notifications.
