  • [Bug / Issue] bad forrmating BBcodes for images hosted on external websites

Our forum www.tenisdemasa.ro was upgraded from VB4 to VB5.6.0.
After the upgrade, some messages (thousands) containing BBcodes images hosted on other websites were bad formatting (see link and printscreen):

    http://www.tenisdemasa.ro/forum/foru...e18#post594158

The original code is somehow modified by vBulletin engine and it result in this error.

When I edit a post and click on "source" I see this:

The only way I found to fix this is by editing every affected post, click on "source - advanced editor" and save.

I also notice that this BUG "applied" to all BBcode / URL codes containing images hosted on other websites.
When edit such post without "advanced editor", after saving, the post will contain the above error.

Can you help me by fixing this to all my forum messages?
    Thank you.

    It is reported here: https://tracker.vbulletin.com/vbulle...sues/VBV-20137

Are all the images using postimage.cc?

If I go to this URL, https://s22.postimg.cc/jiu41onod/IMG_1467.jpg, that site redirects me to [URL]https://postimg.cc/KKrj4dMY[/URL] using a 302 redirect. That could be some of the problem. However for some reason, a 404 error is also being returned and breaking the Alt tag. You can see the rendered code here:

    Code:
    <a href="http://[url=&quot;https://postimg.cc/image/jiu41onod/[/url" target="_blank">]
      <img class="bbcode-attachment" src="https://s22.postimg.cc/jiu41onod/IMG_1467.jpg" border="0" alt="">"]Error 404 (Not found)
    </a>
Another issue is that the [URL] tag isn't parsed correctly. I suspect this is the actual issue and the display is not actually related to the image itself. I need access to the database and your previous FTP information doesn't seem to be working. I have replied to your existing ticket for updated connection information.

Hello, it was vBulletin 4.2.3 Patch Level 2

To answer your question, most of the images were posted by postimage.cc .
But I could simulate the same error with picr.me also.
If I edit a post containing an image with BBcodes from picr.me it is the same error.

First posting is correct, the error appear only if I edit the post with normal editor (not source).

Anyway, the imported images posts from VB5 image posts are all with errors.

And "the fix" is the same: edit/source/save
