  • [Bug / Issue] Forum Stuck in Loading Its Style

Forum was fine late last night. Today on my first visit there I find it stuck trying to load its style. I can't get to the Admin page as the site edit button is not functioning.

    Replace your .htaccess file.
Make sure the only PHP files in your root directory are index.php and config.php.
Make sure that /admincp/ is empty.
Run the Suspect File Versions Diagnostic in the AdminCP.

How do I get to AdminCP, when the forum won't start? Is there a stand-alone .exe file or an URL?

Come to think of it, where would I find another .htaccess file?

Once the .htaccess file is working, you should be able to access the AdminCP.

You can find another copy in your original download of vBulletin files or you can download the package again from the Member's Area. We ship the file as htaccess.txt and it will need to be renamed. This prevents overwriting critical changes on different servers.

OK, I changed the htaccess.txt to .htaccess and the forum started up, but AdminCP won't start. I tried htaccess.txt from both vB 5-4-2 & vB 5-5-4 Patch Level 1.

          This is the reply I got from A2 Hosting . . . .
. . . . .it appears your vBulletin site has been compromised, and there are some hacked files:

          /home/drucifer/public_html/js/blueimp/etz2jp5c9q.php: ecqz1q3swz.php.a2.UNOFFICIAL FOUND
          /home/drucifer/public_html/core/vb/utility/trait/geukbxca.php: {HEX}php.base64.v23au.187.UNOFFICIAL FOUND

          These files have been quarantined,
So where do I go from here?

1,2,3, done, 4 Run the Suspect File Versions turned up a lot of files. Roughly around 30, but many look like they belong to add-ons like vBShout.

The point of the diagnostic is to delete any files that you don't know about. If Addons were properly written, they wouldn't show up in the list as being suspect

If it were my site and a file was listed on that page that I don't have a record of adding to the site, I would delete it. Simple as that.

None of those index.php files should be there. Most of the others are obsolete files from vBulletin that should have been deleted as upgrades occur on the site.

Replace all with vbulletin script downloaded again and check again, but all of them are suspicious and I have found them on my forum also and deleted them. Most of them seem to be from a prior version of vbulletin... but I don't think they are... They are missing for the newly downloaded vbulletin arhived. so I have deleted them. Check your index.php before replacing, if they contain malware code... that it is clear. Replace all the file and delete everything that vbulletin shows suspicious. Maybe vbulletin team will create a script that does everything automatically. What I have idenfied on my forum is index.html.bak.bak files + index.php infected, and also some kdjbfkjsdbf.php files, which I managed to find by searching for eval, base64_,gzinflate ... etc But... I think something is missing, because on one forum... I was still getting hacked... so maybe the vbulletin team can help.
Wayne Luke if you need those php files, I have saved 3 of them, I can pm the code to you.
