  • Ad Modules not working since upgrading to 5.4.4

I upgraded to 5.4.4 last night, and since then none of the ad modules are displaying ads. Is this a known issue?

I haven't seen or heard any other mentions of this issue. Are these Google Adsense ads?

Yes, they are. Definitely related to the upgrade, ads were appearing fine prior.

The version prior to upgrade was 5.4.3

I have to go into every single ad module and de-activate and re-activate every ad to get them to appear. What a bloody inconvenience!

Having updated to 5.5, I am experiencing the same problem. I know deactivating each ad and reactivating it fixes it, but this is a major inconvenience and the problem should be investigated by vB.

As an aside, why aren't widgets reusable?

Just for information - upgraded to 5.5.0 last week, no problems with our Google ads

This sounds like you have something blocking the script. Do you have an ad blocker that blocks JS?

I do not. This is for all users, so it's not a client side issue.

Edit: looking at the page source, the ad modules are not there at all.

This isn't something that should be happening. It did happen in the past but we put in work to make sure it didn't happen again. We would need access to the database backup you made before upgrading to determine why you're still having this problem.

Check the usergroup permission in the module configuration. Make sure that the module is shown to all usergroups or intended usergroups

So, how did it work prior to upgrade then?

Excellent, thank you. How can I get it to you? The uncompressed .sql file is 1.8GB, compressed as a .zip is ~400MB

Usually people share their database via their favorite cloud storage. Simply share the link in a support ticket.

Maybe the upgrade messed up the module's usergroup permission? Just guessing. You'll never know until you check as I suggested. It'll take a minute or less to do so.
