What is the criteria for an "active user"?

Just curious what exactly is the criteria for displaying the number of users and active users. Thanks!

An active user has visited the forum in the last 30 days. They don't have to actually post anything. Just visit and log in.

Okay, I think I'll leave that one alone for now.
Would there be any chance of choosing between visiting and posting? Say as an option in the AdminCP.
