  • Housekeeping question

I am currently permanently deleting all topics start by "Guest" (default name of deleted members) starting win the Introduce yourself channel on our forum.
What would be the effect of checking the "Delete other posts and topics started by the affected users" box?
Also is there an easy way to bulk delete topics started by "Guest"?

As far as I know doing that will delete all posts with no userid (guests).
However, if there are large numbers of these, the tool may timeout while trying to run.

As always, back up your database before attempting this.

If I understand you correctly, ALL deleted members become the "same" Guest. Therefore if there were 200 deleted members deleting all topics started by guest would delete topics started by all the 200 deleted members?

Do you have an answer for my second question?

You can bulk prune by username or usergroup in the AdminCP under Node Tools -> Prune.

Thank you. Does give you the option to view the results before deletion?

It provides a list. You can view each node in the front end.

I was unable to delete Topics started by "Guest" using the prune tool. I have spent the last couple of days manually deleting these topics. I have so far deleted ~13,000 and I am wondering are there any told I need to run in the AdminCP to clean up after such a big delete. I'm not finished yet.

If you are using INNODB tables and have attachments stored in the file system, there is nothing you need to do to update the database.

What do you consider large numbers?

We added the ability to search by guest and the ability to search by secondary usergroups (may be in 5.5.0, I forget).
