Also finding in my research that the AdSense code is entered somewhat differently between html and PHP (vBulletin) websites.

I'm sure this is well known to the veterans. But new to me.

Thanks Wayne Luke for the awesome explanation!

My website is running vBulletin 4 and I do already have a Google AdSense account...so sounds like the vBulletin helper tool provides to additional benefit as you mentioned.

One followup question please. I know AdSense provides the code necessary to copy & paste into the header of a website. I'm guessing that adding the AdSense code is easy once someone knows how or has done it the first time. I'm no IT expert...and haven't done this before...so I don't want to try doing it "free-style" & then crashing my site. Are there any tutorials around explaining how to add this code to a vBulletin site?

    Thanks again...excellent explanation.

The Google AdSense association is for vBulletin 4. It is a method to provide customers that don't already qualify for AdSense a means to get approved. Essentially our parent company Internet Brands, with its hundreds of sites and 10s of millions of monthly page views, says "This small site with little content will be a good publisher in the long run." In return, our Parent Company would have received a referral fee (not paid out of the site's revenues) from Google if certain thresholds were met in advertising. The site in question would have received advertising bonuses if they met the same thresholds. I don't believe any customer met those thresholds.

If you are using vBulletin 5 and/or have your own AdSense Account already, then this provides you with no benefit. In vBulletin 5, you can insert the Ad Module where you want on the page and then insert your AdSense code directly into the module.

    vBulletin Account and AdSense

I hope this is the best area to post this question/confusion. I purchased vBulletin recently...I'm in the Members area...and I'm going thru the process of associating my website with a Google AdSense account.

Wanted to mention that I already had/have a Google AdSense account...and my Google AdSense account has my website (running vBulletin) already listed in the Google AdSense "My Sites" area of the account.

So I'm going thru the process of associating my vBulletin account with my Google AdSense account...via the vBulletin members area.

    I've:

    - Clicked on the "associating an existing account" link.
    - This takes me to the vBulletin members area page where you enter "Website URL"...so I of course enter my websites URL.
    - Then I click on the "Proceed to Google" button.
    - This takes you to the Google AdSense "Choose an Account" page.
    - I then click on my Google AdSense account name.
    - This takes to me a page that has two choices...an "Accept Association" button,,,and a "Cancel" button.
    - If I click on the "Accept Association" button...it then displays the message "This URL is not available for signing up for AdSense."
    - If I click on the "Cancel" button...it takes me back to the vBulletin site...and I get the message:

"You chose to reject the Google AdSense account association. Your download will still provide paid ads, but you have chosen not to allow vBulletin.com access to your adsense account.
We are providing this service as a convenience to vBulletin license holders. 100% of the revenue generated by advertising on your site will be issued to your Google AdSense account. Please note that you are not required to grant vBulletin.com access to your AdSense account to display ads or generate revenue.
    "

Can anyone please explain what's going on? As I mentioned...I currently have a Google AdSense account (with my webiste URL listed in the "My Sites" area of Google AdSense). But when I go thru the vBulletin associate website + AdSense process...I get that weird message "This URL is not available for signing up for AdSense."

Maybe more importantly...what exactly does the vBulletin process to associate vBulletin + AdSense actually do? Does it do anything more than just get the website that vBulletin is installed on listed in the "My Sites" area of AdSense. Or are there more benefits?

    Thanks
