  • Site Builder editor not working

I am trying to edit the page at mysite.com/ since it is a blank page at the moment
The editor won't let me edit that page so I created a new page at mysite.com/index and when I saved it the second time, I tried to overwrite the template at mysite.com/ [blank] I'm not entering the slash , it's already there. The error tells me that URL is already in use.
Meanwhile I have created a temporary htm page in the root and put a "DirecoryIndex tempage.htm" in the htaccess file.
Is there a way to delete the page at mysite.com/
If not, is there another way to edit the page since Site Builder editor won't let me in?

The actual page is https://forumania.com/index.php but the edit this page button will redirect to the forumcenter.htm due to the DirectoryIndex
Removing that from the htaccess will exhibit the described behavior but it also presents a blank landing page for a live forum.
By "blank" I mean the header and footer show but nothing in the static html module is sent to the client browser.

what I would like to do is overwrite the html in the static html widget at https://forumania.com/index.php
with what is in the same html box on https://forumania.com/index
the issue is the site editor won't open the page at the url http://forumania.com (remember, there's a temp htm file redirect to keep the forum running while this is solved.

I don't think there is anyway around this issue without removing the HTML placeholder. Site Builder works with Javascript and AJAX requests on the page. The browser only requests the page, which you're redirecting to a location that doesn't have the code that is sought.

I suggest removing the page and using vBulletin's Maintenance Page instead. You can turn on Maintenance mode under Settings -> Options -> Turn your vBulletin On or Off. You can add in HTML on this page to instruct people what is going on with the site. As the Administrator you can use the site normally.

Thanks but when I do that, while I can access the page, the Edit Site Off will not switch to On. If I switch it On in a different page, and then navigate to the root, clicking on Edit Page does nothing. None of the other links work either. If I leave the page and go to another page in the same browser and session, all the editing functions work as expected.

Sounds like you're not accessing the site using the URL specified in the Site Name / URL / Contact Details section of the Options. vBulletin 5 uses secure cookies and you must use the URL specified in this location for sessions and cookies to operate properly. So you have a domain with a sub-domain (i.e. www) specified, then you must always access and log in via that sub-domain. And vice versa. The same goes for HTTP vs. HTTPS

Even accessing the forum with the subdomain URL; www.... get the same issue. Can't edit the page at https://www.forumania.com/index.php The page at the root forumania.com/ URL is https://www.forumania.com/index.php
As you can see the fixed html module isn't displaying anything (it's not empty) and it's not possible to edit it to reload html that works. The desired html to load can be seen at https://www.forumania.com/index

You probably have broken HTML code then. You can disable the rendering of Static HTML modules in the AdminCP under Settings -> Options -> General Settings. Disable the rendering. Can you edit the page now?

Make sure that your custom HTML does not mimic any CSS IDs that are used by vBulletin. IDs have to be unique per page and they are used to mark elements that Site Builder will try to edit.

Thanks, Wayne. Disabling the rendering allowed me in to edit the module. All is well now. Apprreciate the good support!
