Note that the vBulletin Message functionality is built on top of the Private Message system. As such, the number of private messages is counted by topic and not by post. It is also recommended to leave this number fairly high if your users are utilizing vBulletin Messenger.Leave a comment:

There is still a 'Maximum Stored Messages' setting under the usergroup settings.

in VB4 we had a limitation for the messages in the inbox, with the ability to export as xml to save them
I can not find anymore this limitation and the export feature. Can you help me ?
