As Wayne has mentioned, the only way this is likely to be changed is via the improvement request he linked to:
    http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-11760
I would recommend voting and commenting on it. The developers and management will see it there.

The support team however cannot assist beyond what Wayne has already posted. Substantial changes to the core code would be required to make this function any better.

I've been trying to push the JIRA through for a long time but it hasn't received a lot of community support in votes. The more votes it gets, the easier it will be for me to get it fixed. I think it is more important than some of the higher vote issues.

It actually goes to / by default. If you have your software installed in the /forums/ directory you would see that in the URL.

To change your home page you have to follow this routine:
    1. Backup your database. This is important in case it glitches.
    2. Turn on Edit Site while visiting your site as an Administrator.
    3. On the default page, click Edit Page.
    4. Click Save Page.
    5. Set the URL to something else like "forums"
    6. Finish saving the page.
    7. Then go to you /home page.
    8. Click Edit Page.
    9. Click Save Page.
    10. Empty the value in the URL field.
    11. Finish saving the page.

There are some caveats with this method.
    • The breadcrumbs do no appear properly.
    • Tabs will no be highlighted properly.

If you cannot live with the issues it causes, there is a JIRA to make this more straightforward here:

Default Home Page and Not go to /Forums

I'm trying to create a custom landing page. Currently when the site loads, it loads to /forums with the FORUMS tab selected. I would like the default to be a custom page I created called "home" /home and have the HOME tab selected. How do I achieve this?
    Thanks
