How to make article summary show on page

I've got several long Articles listed on a page. One article has tables in it. The tables are made from HTML. Is there any control that I can use to just make an article summary show up on the page that lists all of the articles. Right now the table shows up in the summary as a bunch of numbers and looks like crap on the summary page.
