  • post icons show in ACP perfectly fine but don't work on the forum/blog/etc.

I wrote about this previously but didn't get an answer, aside from "it's somewhere in the acp.... " which wasn't really very helpful.

When I log into my ACP all the post icons show up perfectly well. I've included a picture to prove it's fine as far as the ACP is concerned, as far as I can tell, at least.

However, when I attempt to create content, the post icons shows up a series of ... nothing, as seen in 2nd picture. (note, this is from 'edit topic' rather than making a new post, however, the pulldown menu for post icons also shows broken images)

When I use right-click 'inspect element', the domain is listed twice. Once with /core and then the proper url to the image. See last picture for details.

In the AdminCP, try putting the full path in, from http right to the end.
Also try it with and then without /core/ in the URL.

One of those should work. Seems to vary server to server for some reason.

This is the path to my 'lightbulb' icon as listed under 'edit' in "post icon manager".

        http://antimisandry.com/images/icons/icon3.png

As I say, the ftp shows it there and it does indeed bring the picture up - it's only when making/editing posts that the images refuse to show, seemingly due to having the domain listed twice when forming the html code as each page is generated.

AdminCP > Post Icons > Post Icon Manager > [Select a Post Icon Category, for example "Generic Icons"] > Edit [an Icon] > Post Icon File Path.

As per the image from earlier, they all show up perfectly fine there and the path is sound.

The page, where they are broken, is most likely expecting to find the images in /core/images/icons/. If you upload them to that location, do they appear?

There's no means to get to where they're expected as (see img. #4) the expected URL is something alike to; http://mysite.com/core/http://mysite.com/images/icons/ I have no idea how i'm supposed to create a directory starting with http:// ?

                    There's something not right here.

Could you please create a support ticket with a link to this thread?

We will need admincp and FTP access.

This usually means you have a broken URL somewhere. Probably in their definition which most likely starts with a / instead of images/icons.

Sorry to seem thick but I've got no idea what you've just said.

I got the first sentence..but the second is just over my head?

For info and in case anyone else has the same issue later - the issue here was URLs in the Post Icon Manager were set to the full URL:

                            http://mysite.com/images/icons/filename.png

Make sure they're only set to:

                            images/icons/filename.png
                            Vote for:

                            - *Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe*
                            -
*PM - Add ability to reply to originator only*
                            - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s)
                            - Highlight the correct navigation tab when you are on a custom page
                            - "Quick Route" Interface...
                            - Allow to use custom icons for individual forums

This is a tricky one because on some set ups you HAVE to have the full URL - it's a bit weird.
