The upgrade process generally does not change database storage engine.

In the original download zip there is a file in \upload\core\install\ called mysql-schema.php

That file contains the default database information for a new install.

Any table that doesn't have an engine specially mentioned can use InnoDB without issue.

However some tables, especially the session table, should use the engine they are assigned.

session table needs to stay engine MEMORY.

From that file the following tables should remain: MyISAM
    • language
    • nodehash
    • phrase
    • userfield

The rest can be changed. Be sure to make a backup before proceeding.

    Database Storage Engine

    Hi,
I have upgraded our forum to new version 5.2.1. But seems that some of the tables are MyISAM. May I change the database storage engine to InnoDB for the remaining tables. Really appreciated for the help. Thanks
