  • Unable to login, no error

I installed a fresh vbulletin 5.2.2 but I am unable to login. There is no customization and all settings are default. When I try to login nothing happens. The login form is reloading with no error and it does not log me in. Also, if I enter an incorrect username or password there is no error message, only the login form reloads.

    http://vbulletin.compuserve.xyz

I can login in admin control panel. After I login in admin control panel I am also authenticated in forum, but this is the only way I can login into the forum, through admin control panel.

The registration works but the forum login form does not work.

I encountered this problem only in vbulletin 5. In vbulletin 4 the forum login form is working fine.

Please tell me how can I fix this.
    1. vBulletin Version: 5.2.2
    2. PHP Version: 5.6.20
    3. MySQL Version: 5.6.30
    4. Any Addons installed: none
    5. Does the issue occur in a default style?: yes
    6. Does the issue occur using the English language provided?: yes
    7. Error message on the screen': none
    8. Browser and Browser version used.: Chrome, Firefox, IE latest versions also Chrome mobile
    9. Did you clear the browser cache and did the error continue?: yes
    10. A list of steps that can be used to recreate the issue.: try to login using any username and/or password

Did you rename both config files?

Make sure both config files have the same cookie prefix - if they are different, you will get the problems you describe.

Both config files are renamed (config.php) and both have the same default cookie prefix (bb_). Also is the only one vbulletin installation on my account.

        Hi

I've had a look based on the info in your ticket....I cannot see anything wrong, though as a precaution I made you new copies of the confiog and htaccess files.

I suspect this may be a Litespeed issue....on some servers, Litespeed has to be configured to work like Apache in order for vB5 to run.

On the face of it, the login form is not performing the required redirects....could you please ask you host if they can configure Litespeed accordingly, and also to ensure all rewrites are enabled.

Would also be worth asking them to check that no errors appear in the logs relating to the login form....

          Hello Mark,

Got exactly the same issue with my Litespeed server.

What exacttly I have to ask my host to configure Litespeed accordingly,?
Which rewrites are needed to be enabled?

          Thank you.

My host told me that there's no problem with their Litespeed configuration and all rewrites are enabled. Also there were no errors related to my login form. Unfortunatelly I will not use vbulletin5 until this problem is fixed (if it will be ever fixed).

When you try to login, what are the response headers and AJAX string returned to the browser? You can see these in the Browser's development mode.

Are cookies written to your system? Do you allow cookies? They are required.

Is any JavaScript being blocked? By your browser or server?

There are no 404 Errors in the browser's network tools are there?

Also, if you have your site set up on www.domain.com and try to login on domain.com, it will most likely fail. You need to choose one and redirect the other to it.

                1. Not using vBulletin 5 anymore. However when your support staff checked my installation they might got the response headers and AJAX strings returned to the browser.
                2. Cookies were written and allowed.
                3. No Javascript blocked
                4. no 404 errors
                5. the forum was installed on a subdomain (so there were no confusionj between with or without www)

Have looked at the ticket. It appears to be a LiteSpeed configuration issue. There are issues with this Webserver out of the box and due to its low adoption rate, those issues are not high priority at this time.

It's so hard to warn people that vBulletin 5 might not work on LiteSpeed servers BEFORE they pay for the software?

                          vB 5.5.0
                          PHP 7.2.14
                          Firefox

Same issue with an mysql import (new mysql database, old database renamed) in the same domain name.

The Mysql import does work, the new forum is created but I am not able to login in the new AdminCP. No error, the Admincp just reloaded.

This means the user that you're trying to log in doesn't have AdminCP permissions for some reason. Use tools.php to update a user to Administrator status and try again. You can read how to use tools.php here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/arti...sing-tools-php

Yes, I saw this thing there.

Same issue with a fresh 5.5.0- MySQL install + an import of $200 paid themes for vB5.

I am trying to reproduct eveything on another domain name of mine (behind an htaccess). It the issue is confirmed, I will stuck with 3.8.11 for a while and will paid a coder to upgrade 3.8.11 to 3.8.12 / PHP7.2.

Thanks for the tools.php hint, I will test it too.

                              Best Regards
