  • Installation HELP!

    I'm using 1&1 Managed WP Unlimited, in the clickandbuild for this wordpress website (https://blahblah.com) I've created a forum folder (https://blahblah.com/forum), I created a fresh MySQL5.5 database, PHP Version 7.0.6, I've tested the SQL settings in a PHP test page and it works but when I go to install VB 5.2.2 I get this.

    Startup Errors
    Due to the following errors, the install/upgrade can not continue:
    • Error description: 2: mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): Connection refused
    • The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in thecore/includes/config.php file.

    I've tried changing $config['MasterServer']['servername'] = 'localhost'; to $config['MasterServer']['servername'] = 'localhost:/tmp/mysql.sock'; (from another post here). I changed the database password to one without any special characters. Still no luck....I'm about to hit the whiskey.....

    Any thoughts?

    This is something only your host can resolve...your vBulletin installation doesn't have permission to connect to the MySQL server, as the error suggests.

      SO it turns out that even though php showed as installed.....it wasn't. I was still unable to install until I copied the entire upload folder as opposed to creating the folder and then moving the contents up.
