  • Becoming REALLY frustrated with vBulletin 5.x.x !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,

So I VERY recently purchased a license. However, I have used vBulletin before, so I'm no stranger to it.

When trying to install v5.0.x, v4.2.x, or v5.1.x, the installation process goes all fine and dandy, but when I try to view my forum's home page after the installation, it comes up blank -- a boring, white page, with absolutely nothing displayed on it. I even tried to view the source code to see if it might be an issue with the code or something, and that even comes up blank.

Also, when I try to refresh the page, all of the formatting is gone. It becomes plain text, basically, and not styled the way it should be. The only file I even edited was the config.php in core/includes, as you're supposed to do when trying to install the software. Oftentimes, it will just be like this from the get-go after installation as well. No matter how many times I refresh, the proper CSS formatting/styling is not restored.

This does not occur on v3.8.8. Everything works like a charm in this version -- no errors or anything!!

Please note that, by now, I have tried installing / reinstalling v5.1.x SEVERAL times, v5.0.x once, and maybe 1-2 times for v4.2.x. I have checked my PHP and MySQL settings, and I am currently running PHP 5.6.3, and MySQL 5.5.40.

I don't think that I am doing anything wrong here, am I? I don't feel like I am. I know what I DO feel though: FRUSTRATION!!!!

Do you have URL rewriting enabled on your webserver?

Are you able to open your admincp?

Did you reed the manual about Blank Pages? See:

      http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/blank_pages

Did you search on this forum for solutions? See:

        1) Yes, my ModRewrite Engine is on.

        2) Yes, I'm able to open AdminCP, but pretty much nothing else displays properly in v5.x.

        3) I wasn't sure where to look.... I will look into each page's contents soon, or even later.

        UPDATE:

It ended up being a conflict between index.html and index.php ... I had this really bad feeling it was probably something minor and extremely stupid, and was right. Feel silly for not having figured this out before. -_-

widgetinstance 262 (Related Topics) skipped due to lack of content & hide_module_if_empty option.
