If you want extra security on the AdminCP directory, we suggest using user authorization on that directory via a secondary .htaccess file instead of renaming the directory. Renaming the directory provides no practical security benefits.

vBulletin 5 doesn't support AdminCP renaming, please rename it back.

Further development: I saw in the .htaccess file a reference to "admincp" so I changed that to my new admin panel name of "uberadmin" and the "forbidden" message went away. But it gave a screen that looked more like the front end with no admin login. So in case this was still due to my changing the admin directory name I changed both admin directories back to "admincp" and changed it back in both config files, also changing it back in the .htaccess file. So everything should now be completely default.

I am now getting the admin login screen at http://uberdrivers.com/udtest/admincp/
So I guess you can't change the admin directory name that easily. Thought it might be even more secure if the admin directory wasn't the default name.

  • 403 Forbidden error on admin panel after install

I just installed version 5.1.3 of vB5 Connect. The installation went fine. When complete I deleted the install folder and went to the front end of the forum and it came up fine. When I went to the admin panel I get: Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /udtest/uberadmin/ on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Front end link: http://uberdrivers.com/udtest/
    Admin link: http://uberdrivers.com/udtest/uberadmin/

    Hosted on a GoDaddy server.

I double checked the two config files to make sure the name of the admin directory was set correctly and they are both set to "uberadmin".

Other than changing the name of the admin directory everything else is stock with no modifications. Not sure what to look for. Help would be appreciated.
