Not logged in

When users leave the forum and come back it says they are not logged in, but when they click on any button/link it says they are logged in. Any way to fix this?

Do they actually log out, or do they just close the browser window/tab?

I guess then it is a cache/cookie issue, which depends on how your users have configured their browser. For example, if I clear the browser cache/delete all cookies everytime I close my browser, I am no longer logged in when I reopen the browser and visit the forum. With other settings (= not clearing the cache, storing cookies for a certain time) this might be different.
