I also just made this change. So what exactly is guest cache? What would be cached for guests that would take up so much space?

An entire pages output, for every single page on your site (vBulletin pages, anyway), in every language.

Ah wow. I assumed it was just the db data that was ever cached. So all cookie and session preferences for each user is cached in the form of the the actual html output for every guest? Screw that, lol, there is no reason to cache that data on my forums... people can register.

OK my cache table grew from 0 this morning to 1.1 GB at this time, I still think this is too much.

Is this normal or is there something I can still do about it?

Its not intended to completely stop it. How big is the rest of your database, in comparison to your cache table?

Without the Cache table the DB size is 2.8 GB

Didn't make any difference for me either. After about 7 hours my database cache table is 19G! And no other vb table in the database is greater than 17M. I do have other non vb tables that are bigger, but I can't see why vb would be caching anything in those since they are not vb tables.

                Code:
                -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 8754 Jan 11 2014 vb_cache.frm
                -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 19428021036 Sep 3 18:56 vb_cache.MYD
                -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 615424 Sep 3 18:56 vb_cache.MYI
Something is wrong with this picture, lol. I have to clear my system cache every day.

Can anyone having a very large cache table open a support ticket with my attention so I can take a look at what is going on?

I already opened up a support ticket for this problem, Ticketid: <edited>. I asked them to forward it to you. The current state is they wanted me to upgrade to 5.1.2 before they looked into it, but I am not ready to do that yet. And from the sounds of it, fsmex says this problem still exists in 5.1.2 anyway. I am waiting for 5.1.3 to get out of beta since some tickets I wrote are fixed in 5.1.3. I've had to modify some vb code to fix some bugs so upgrading is not completely simple for me. I'd rather avoid it unless I know it fixes something.

Nice, please let me know what you find out because they won't help me on 5.1.1.

Well the response was pretty much to wait for 5.1.3 and see if the problem is solved, since a lot of cache issues are solved on 5.1.3

5.1.3 seems to have a number of fixes around cache issues. Once it is out of beta I'd suggest you upgrade to it, and see how it goes after clearing the system cache post upgrade.
                            Let's wait...

I guess my confusion is why nobody else seems to have this problem if it's just some improved cache handling in 5.1.3... Are other people just not paying attention or are their forums so small it's not noticeable?
