What does featuring a topic do?

When I moderate a thread in the thread list, I have the option to feature a topic. What exactly does this do?

Good question.

Apparently it doesn't really do anything yet besides mark a thread as featured, more options will be coming soon, perhaps a module that will show featured content.

Featured threads can also be used in Content Slider module. You can see a slider of featured topics in Mark's demo site at http://www.talknewsuk.com/testvb/
